F6.Studios for NE1's Newcastle Fashion Week

Ever since we got confirmation for this years NE1's Newcastle Fashion Week, the F6 sewing room has been a flurry of excitement as we prepare for the prestigious Fashion Front Row event next Wednesday 14th May.

First catwalk confirmation was the gorgeous collaboration of Kahtash, Bayly and Bad Kitty (Corsets). Each designer-maker has stepped outside their comfort-zone to create a breathtakingly beautiful couture collection. Stunning experimental hand-dyed silks were created by Kahtash, who typically specialises in natural dyes. For the collaboration, she has used a variety of techniques such as ice-dyeing to create vivid multi-coloured flowing fabrics. Also creating beautiful fabrics and adding a rich texture to the mix is Bayly, who works primarily with interiors but for this collection has created bespoke handwoven fabrics in a range of primary colours. Finally constructing the final garments will be Bad Kitty (Corsets), who as the name implies, makes a range of bespoke corsets and girdles. For the collaboration she will be bringing together the lush fabrics of Kahtash and Bayly in a new and challenging way. Expect a vibrant mix of tailoring and eclectic combinations!

We don't want to give too much away but here's a few photos to give you a hint at how things turned out.

One of the after effects of the technique used here, our dye room floor covered in ink
 - and she wasn't even finished yet.

Also taking part in Fashion Front Row is resident Melanie Kyles, who will be showcasing hand-embroidered bespoke accessories with headline act, Tallulah Love. Expect feminine detailed collars and cuffs with stunning luxury lingerie and corsets, headpieces by Dimesso Designs and work by Buckly and Jennifer Lambert!

We look forward to showcasing amongst some of the most talented fashion designers in the North East at this spectacular event, which due to popularity, will be held in bigger venue Tiger Tiger for the first year! Entry to the event is free (suggested £3 charity donation), but seats fill fast so make sure you head down early...
