The Late Shows 2013

F6.Studios is pleased to announce they are in the line up for 
The Late Shows 2013.

The Studio space will be reinvented as a live installation: The Peep Show.

We decided that holding open studios to come view our members work just wasn't enough to showcase the talent hidden away here. Therefore we devised a 'live shopping experience' for you to see their beautiful and exquisite creations be brought to life. 

Come and Watch the performers prepare for a burlesque show where F6.Studios members work will be embedded into the performance as costumes and props. With no acknowledgement that they're being observed, the performers shed their street wear and transform themselves to stage spectacular. Expect much make-up and sequins and more than a little back stage banter.

Introducing Ellie Land...

Filmmaker Ellie Land uses documentary, digital and traditional animation techniques to make films that explore issues such as femininity, gender politics, and identity. Her films have attracted a number of awards, commendations and special mentions from a variety of prestigious international film festivals.

Ellie’s most recent film Centrefold commissioned by the Wellcome Trust released in July 2012,  and has contributed to the international debate on the ethics of labia surgery. The film featured on Radio 4's Women's Hour and is currently screening in competition at international film festivals.

Other recent work includes a commission from War child UK, a part participatory animated project with youth in Uganda.

Ellie is now starting pre-production on a participatory animated documentary about the recent effects of welfare reform in the UK.

Ellie has an MA in Animation from The Royal College of Art. She now lives in the North East of England and is the current Senior Lecturer in Animation and Motion Graphics at the University of Northumbria.

Katie Chappell

We've recently welcomed some new members at F6.Studios and Katie Chappell is one of them. Katie is a freelance illustrator and designer currently living and working in Newcastle. She graduated in July 2012 with a degree in illustration & Design from Sunderland University and works primarily with traditional media such as pen, ink and sometimes watercolours. She also has a foundation degree in Animation.
